Immediate placement

The immediate placement category was introduced in 2016 by Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA. This category allows PAPs to opt for a child without a long wait, and without compromising their seniority in the registration.

When parents opt for this additional category, they have a readily available and a bigger set of children for them to reserve. They can view their profile and reserve a child thus eliminating a long waiting period.

Counselling will be useful and is a must if you decide to choose this category

Children available in the immediate placement will include:

  • Children who have been referred several times to prospective adoptive parents (PAP’s) through Child Adoption Resource Information and Guidance System, but have not found a family (could be physical attributes, colour, minor medical ailments, etc)

  • Older children (above 5-6 years of age)

  • Siblings together / or one of them could be in the typical category or special needs. All siblings will be together whether they are in the immediate placement, special needs or typical lists

  • Register with Carings – Prospective adoptive parents have to register online for adopting a child and upload their documents in CARINGS

  • This will be followed by a home study report which will be conducted by the specialized adoption agency

  • The social worker will conduct a detailed study of  the PAP’s eligibility, social, economic, health, psychological status

  • This process will take a month.

  • Once the home study is approved and uploaded, the PAP can view and access the Immediate Placement list on the CARINGS site as well.

  • The PAP can reserve their child from the immediate placement list visit the specialized adoption agency

  • PAP can bring the child home under the pre-adoption foster care within 14 days of reserving the child

  • If the PAP does not accept a child from the immediate placement list, they continue to be eligible for the regular adoption procedure without their position in the queue getting affected.

          Documents to be uploaded:
